Monika Dabrowska was born in 1976 in Legnica, Poland. Her family moved to Rome when she was ten years old. Two years later in 1989, they moved to Canada where she continues to live and work.

Monika always stresses the importance of a solid grounding in drawing. Her paintings not only reflect her interpretation of her subject matter but she creates subdued, soft atmospheric effects. Monika’s works are created in a very old technique known as encaustic. She adds other elements to this ground making her work mixed media.

Monika always loved to draw and paint. Even though her parents encouraged her to continue to draw and paint, they cautioned her that making a living as an artist was difficult. She considers herself a professional. With no outside training Monika’s natural talent has taken the form of “feeling” on canvas, and paper.

The heavenly atmosphere created by mist, rays of light, drifts of dust, have made Monika’s paintings extremely popular throughout North America, where she is enjoying the success of an ever growing following of private and corporate collectors.
