Cynthia Powell was born in Howell, Michigan, Ms. Powell’s artistic interest began at a young age with traditional classes. As a young adult, she diversified her training with three terms of Chinese ink painting at the University of Michigan. The influence of her professors can be seen in some of her current works.

In 1992 Cynthia Powell completed her commercial art degree at Lansing Community College, leading to her initial focus on that topic. After recognizing her desire to work for individuals and to also explore more diverse media, Ms. Powell departed from commercial work and focused instead on fine residential art.

Working in a multitude of formats, Ms. Powell’s creations reflect beauty in all areas through her use of color and texture. She is easily able to highlight the majesty of nature and the innovative detail of figurative and abstract subjects.
